Kauffman's Fruit Farm
is a family-operated orchard nestled in the middle of the fertile Amish farmlands of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, owned & operated by the 3rd, 4th, & 5th generations of Kauffmans. We specialize in growing quality apples, cherries, peaches, pears, & plums and producing tasty fruit products. Sweet Apple Cider is one of the local favorites, but people from all around come to enjoy it also. We make wonderful-good Apple Butter and dried Apple Snitz, and stock quick-mix Apple Muffin baking mixes. In addition to orchard products, our farm market offers a full line of grocery favorites, a huge selection of quality bulk foods, and a fresh deli department with choice Lancaster County meats and fine cheeses.
Whether growing apples or slicing bologna, pressing cider or helping a customer in the bulk food department, we strive to provide quality products and top-notch customer service in all facets of our business. We want your time with us to be pleasant and fruitful (pun intended). |

About Us
Kauffman's "Bird-In-Hand Brand" Orchard Products have been recognized and enjoyed since the early 1900's. Founder A. L. Kauffman planted the first trees in 1915. Now owned and operated by the 3rd, 4th, & 5th generations, our warehouse and retail store are located in the heart of "Pennsylvania Dutch Country", on Route 340 between the villages of Bird-In-Hand and Intercourse (directions). Our nearby orchards produce over 135 varieties of tree fruits on 100 acres. The orchards are constantly being replanted to keep up with changing consumer needs and the most efficient growing systems. |

SAM KAUFFMAN: Sam is in charge of our on-the-farm Apple Butter Plant where he oversees production of a variety of apple and fruit butters. He receives assistance there from his wife Mattie and several of their five children. You may also see Sam at the market stand he and his family operate at Central Market just off Penn Square in Lancaster. Helpful Hint: Sam is a cousin of Dave and Ken, and they are grandsons of A. L. Kauffman, the founder of our company. CARL KAUFFMAN: Carl directs the harvesting of our peach crop each summer, is the delivery driver you probably see most often, and oversees maintenance on our fleet of trucks. He and his wife, Judy, have six energetic children whom we expect to contribute significantly to Kauffman’s success in years to come. NORMAN KAUFFMAN: Norman oversees the part of our market that includes home grown fruit, the produce department, and the bulk food section, and serves as Treasurer of our company. His wife Wanda and almost all of their seven children work in the market as they’re needed. Son Larry is assistant store manager and shipping manager and daughter Stephanie heads up the bulk food department. Helpful Hint; Carl and Norman are brothers and are sons of a cousin to Dave, Ken, and Sam. LAUREN KAUFFMAN: Lauren is a classic jack-of-all-trades involved in many aspects of our business. He is a mainstay in the cider production department, does most of those early-in-the-morning spraying assignments in our orchard, assists at the Apple Butter Plant, and is involved in various aspects of orchard work. CLAIR KAUFFMAN: Clair contributes to our business in various ways. He is our director of Human Resources, Apple Peeling Department manager, Assistant Wholesale manager, and Secretary of the Board of Directors. Clair and his wife, Anna, welcomed their second child and first son to their home in January. Helpful Hint: Clair is the son of Ken. MICHAEL KAUFFMAN: Michael is manager of our Wholesale Sales department (a rapidly growing segment of our operation), a task which includes relating with customers in our warehouse and over the telephone, overseeing the picking of orders, and scheduling delivery routes. He and his wife Joanna have a family of three children, the oldest of which will be entering second grade in the fall. ANTHONY KAUFFMAN: Tony, the youngest member and Vice-President of our board, is in charge of our cider production facility. Tony and Jody enjoy their family of a daughter (just turned two years old) and two sons. Helpful Hint: Lauren, Michael, and Tony are sons of Dave. They, along with Carl, Norman, and Clair complete four generation lines of employees who have worked on our farm since A. L. Kauffman planted those first fruit trees in 1911. |
